Sam Rowan is the pen name of the editor who runs Shilajit.uk. Sam isn't a doctor or pharmacist and doesn't give medical advice. Every page is written from the cited primary research, with an evidence grade for each health claim, and corrected openly when something is wrong.
Why a pen name?
Shilajit.uk is an independent site, and its editor prefers to keep their private life separate from it. We use one consistent pen name so readers can see that the same person stands behind every page and is accountable for it. We say so openly here rather than presenting Sam as someone they’re not.
What does Sam do?
Sam chooses what the site covers, reads the research behind each page, writes and edits the articles, assigns the evidence grades and handles corrections. Sam has no financial ties to any shilajit brand, and the site sells nothing (see about Shilajit.uk).
Is Sam medically qualified?
No. Sam is not a doctor, pharmacist or dietitian, and nothing on this site is medical advice. That’s why every health claim links to the study it comes from, so you can check it yourself, and why we’re looking for a qualified reviewer to check our health pages. When a page has been reviewed, the reviewer’s name and qualifications will be shown on it.
How are pages researched?
Each page is built from primary sources, mostly human trials and systematic reviews on PubMed, plus UK legislation and official guidance for legal and safety questions. Research and drafting are assisted by AI tools, and every figure is checked against the source it cites before publishing. Our editorial policy sets out the full process.
How do I contact Sam?
Email hello@shilajit.uk or use the contact page. If you’ve spotted a mistake, please include a link to the evidence and we’ll check it.
